Break Camps

Beginning thespians who are currently in grades K-6 stretch their imagination with our theater day camps which align with all Washoe County School District breaks. Due to the length and intensity of these day camps, these camps are best suited for students who have started or have finished kindergarten.

Introducing a new half-day camp for PreK-K on select weeks and a SUMMER INTENSIVE for the more experienced actors!

Reno Little Theater’s camps are held in accordance with Washoe County School District’s balanced calendar breaks for students currently in kindergarten through sixth grade. Through our diverse curriculum,  children have the opportunity to experience traditional day camp activities with a theatrical flair! Each camp week ends with a showcase for family and friends. Each camper receives two free, complimentary tickets to the showcase. Extra tickets for the showcase can be purchased at a Pay-What-You-Wish price.

Villainous Ventures:
A Wickedly Talented Camp

Calling all Villains!! It's time to get rotten to the core! Through theatre games and the “Actors Toolbox” students will get a chance to explore our favorite villainous characters. And with music and dance from The Descendants movies, it’s sure to be a devilishly fun week! Families and friends can witness these young villains in action in a showcase at the end of the week.

Are you rotten to the core? Or mostly misunderstood? This camp will focus on the “who and why” aspect of villainy. Through theatre games, creative movement, and improvisation, students will create their own villain and explore what caused them to become so deliciously evil in the first place. With music from Wicked and Descendents as inspiration, it promises to be a mischievously marvelous week. Families and friends can witness these young villains in action in a showcase at the end of the week. 

ClueQuest: A Mystery Detective Camp

Do you like mysteries? Do you like to create disguises and play detective games? Then this is the camp for you! This week campers get go on scavenger hunts, create original “clue” characters and collectively create their own murder mystery. Of course a good mystery has singing and dancing. Friends and family will get a chance to watch the mystery unfold at the end of the week.

Step into a world of mystery, suspense, and crime-solving  This week, campers will have a chance to engage in hands-on detective work and role-playing while developing storytelling skills and character creation. They will also collaborate with fellow detectives create their own mystery adventure story. Don't miss out on the chance to become a master detective and steal the spotlight on the stage!

A Pirates & Mermaids Theatre Adventure

Ahoy, young performers! Unleash the magic beneath the waves and make this week a legendary adventure. Using well known stories like Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid as a guide, campers will create their own pirate and mermaid characters. Through collaboration, these young artists will craft their own seafaring tales. Throw some singing and dancing in and it’s sure to be a “Fin”tastic week with an epic showcase at the end of the week.

Is it better to be a pirate and hunt for treasure or and mermaid that can swim with dolphins and breathe under water? Who cares! In this camp you can be both! Campers will have fun hunting for treasure in Neverland, making up mermaid and battle stories, along with dancing and singing to songs from Little Mermaid and Peter Pan. The showcase at the end of the week will be epic.

Your young artist will dive into stories about underwater creatures and high seas adventures, create aquatic artwork, and engage in open-ended creative drama explorations centered around sea themes and imaginative play.

An Inside Out Theatre Camp!

This week, campers will dive into the world of emotions like never before. Using the “Actors Toolbox”, these young artists will use their body, voice, and imagination to explore the art of expressing a range of emotions on stage. Add some singing and dancing and it’s sure to be a colorful week. There will be a showcase for families and friends at the end of the week

This camp, based on the film Inside Out and the newly released Inside Out 2, allows students a chance to explore all their emotions in a creatively theatrical way. With colorful art projects, singing, and dancing thrown in, campers will certainly find the rainbow connection. There will be a showcase for families and friends at the end of the week.

This week, young campers will explore learn the art of expressing a range of emotions through creative movement, imaginative play, and visual art. Don’t miss out on a week of creativity, connection and let the stage be your child’s canvas to journey inside out.

Whimsical Companions:
An Imaginary Friends Theatre Odyssey

What happens to our imaginary friends after we have outgrown them? What if they aren’t really gone? Calling all young dreamers and imaginative adventurers! Dive into a world where make-believe becomes reality. With the new movie “IF” as a guide, young performers will explore a world where Imaginary Friends do exist. They will collaborate will fellow campers to craft extraordinary tales where make-believe and reality collide. Add some music and dance to the mix and it’s sure to be a magical week. 

Embark on an enchanting journey into the realm of make-believe. This week campers will have the opportunity to bring their imaginary friends to life. Using their body, voice, and imagination, students will discover the joy of storytelling, creativity, and the special bond between children and their imaginary pals. Families will have the chance to see these whimsical stories in a showcase at the end of the week.

Embark on a magical journey of creativity and friendship. This week young campers will dive into the enchanting world of make-believe with their imaginary friends. Through imaginative play, creative movement, and visual art, these campers will weave tales of joy and friendship, bringing their imaginary pals to life. 

Drama of the Gods:
A Greek Mythology Extravaganza!

August 5th-9th, 2024

This week, young heroes and heroines will immerse themselves in the wonders of ancient Greece and experience the magic, mystery, and marvels of legendary tales that have captivated hearts for centuries. Using their body, voice, and imagination, campers will explore their creativity and passion for theater in the realm of gods and goddesses. Throw in music and dance from Disney’s “Hercules” and it’s sure to be an adventurous week.

Calling All Demigods! This week we will dive into the captivating tales of gods, goddesses, and heroes. Using the stories of Percy Jackson as a guide, students will unleash their inner demigod and create their own demigod. Through theater games and collaboration, campers will create new adventures or give a fresh twist to classic myths. With music and dance thrown in, it’s sure to be an epic week. There will be a showcase on the last day of camp for families and friends.

Education Programming Refund Policy

  • Cancellation more than 4 weeks before a class/camp begins will result in a full refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee per class/camp.

  • Cancellation more than 2 weeks before a class/camp begins will result in a full refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee per class/camp.

  • Cancellation within 1-2 weeks of a class/camp beginning will result in a class/camp credit, minus a $50 cancellation fee per class/camp.

  • Cancellation 1 week or less before a class/camp begins will result in no refund or credit.

  • Exceptions will be considered for students with COVID-19 symptoms.
