Graphic by Andrew Mowers

A classic, "realist" play that set Victorian Europe afire in the late 19th Century. In secretly helping her beloved husband to survive, Nora Helmer commits an act which society deems disgraceful.  This act saves her husband but, when discovered, imperils all she has lived for—her family.  Her world crumbles, and she is forced to choose between her family and herself.  This play, while still provocative and challenging today, was part of the important movement of women who willingly (and in Nora's case, unwillingly) began to challenge their place in the world. This script won three Tonys in 1997.
